Our Team
RUSSELL FRYER: Mr. Fryer is the Chief Investment Officer and Owner of Baobab Asset Management and Baobab Physical Commodities. His leadership and management is founded on a 29-year investment career, during which he has developed an extensive on-the-ground understanding of the natural resources sector, as well as established significant long-term relationships at both senior and working levels throughout the industry.
Prior to establishing Baobab, Mr. Fryer served as Managing Director analyzing and investing in the natural resources sector for North Sound Capital LLC. He has experience as a Director in emerging markets equities at both Deutsche Bank in New York and at HSBC in Johannesburg.
Mr. Fryer is a member of the New York chapter of the Society of Mining Engineers.
CHRIS ROGERS: Mr. Rogers is Head of Trading for BPC, and is a logistics and trading expert. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Rogers traded non-ferrous metals at H&H Metals and worked for the Foreign Currency group at Morgan Stanley, both in New York.
Mr. Rogers has executed business transactions with smelters and refiners in China, India, Peru, Ecuador, Honduras, UAE, Chile, Czech Republic, Pakistan, and Germany, navigating multiple logistical and cultural challenges along the way.
Mr. Rogers was awarded a Rotary Fellowship for International studies, which he used to obtain an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Business. He began his career as an entrepreneur in Japan, and is conversant in Japanese.
FRANCISCO MORALES: Mr. Morales joined BPC in 2018 as [the] Country Manager for Chile. Based in Santiago, Mr. Morales has more than 10 years of experience in logistics and project development.
Mr. Morales has held management and commercial positions in commodity and maritime trading in South America. Over the past 5 years, while at C.Steinweg Haldesveem, he has provided chartering, mine chains, and port loading solutions in the Southern Cone mining sector.
Mr. Morales studied international commerce and has a postgraduate degree in maritime business and logistics. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, and conversant in French.
